Nicodemus, a learned religious leader who loved God.  He studied the Old Testament his entire life. His resume included; being Israel's teacher, member of the Jewish ruling council (equivalent to the Supreme Court).  Nicodemus learns his lofty resume of ALL that he has done for God will not be the way to heaven.  Over the course of Jesus' ministry, John's Gospel records Nicodemus' journey to discovering the treasure the Old Testament promised would come, the Messiah. 

We are challenged to let go of our need to DO in order to gain God the Father's love.
